BEFORE WE GET STARTED

Your questions, answered.

Helpful details about planning, estimates, installation and caring for your finished landscape.

Getting started

How do I request an estimate?

Use the free estimate request form or call (813) 767-4022. Include your property location, the work you are considering and a budget range. If you are unsure where to start, describe what is not working in the yard.

Are estimates free?

Yes. RLC offers free estimates. The proposed work, materials and scheduling are discussed for your property; submitting a request does not commit you to a project.

Where do you work?

RLC is based in Lutz and serves the Tampa Bay area, including Hillsborough, Pinellas and Pasco. Send your address so we can confirm availability for the type of project you need.

Do I need a design before contacting you?

No. Bring your priorities, any inspiration you like and a sense of how you want to use the space. We can discuss the layout, plant selection and a practical installation scope.

What information helps you prepare an estimate?

Share the areas to improve, your preferred timing and a budget range. Mention access limits, existing irrigation, plants you want to keep, pets and any HOA requirements you already know about.

Do you take smaller projects or only full renovations?

RLC welcomes installation projects over $1,000 as well as complete landscape transformations. A focused hedge, planting or lighting project can be worthwhile without renovating the entire property. Describe the work so we can discuss a suitable scope.

Planning your landscape

Which services can I discuss with RLC?

Landscape design and installation, privacy hedges, palms and planting beds, mulch and decorative rock, sod, artificial turf, landscape lighting, irrigation improvements, cleanups and landscape maintenance. Tell us which areas matter most to you.

Can the work be completed in phases?

Discuss the full vision even if you want to start with one area. Planning removal, irrigation, planting and lawn work together helps reduce avoidable rework as later phases are added. Each phase should have an agreed scope.

Can healthy trees and plants stay?

Yes, existing landscaping can be part of the plan. We review condition, placement and the space plants need before recommending what to retain, relocate or replace.

How do you choose plants for my yard?

Plant choices should fit the available sun, drainage, mature size, desired look and care needs. Privacy, seasonal color, access to the home and room around walkways also matter. We discuss those factors before final selection.

Can you help with privacy without making the yard feel crowded?

We can discuss hedge placement, plant size, spacing and the area you want to screen. The goal is useful privacy with room for growth, maintenance and access—not simply squeezing in as many plants as possible.

Should irrigation and lighting be planned with the planting?

Yes. Discuss both early so the scope accounts for new beds, lawn areas and access before everything is installed. Existing systems may need adjustments, and any added work should be clearly included in the estimate.

Scheduling and aftercare

What affects the final project price?

Area, material choices, plant sizes and quantities, removals, ground preparation, access and supporting irrigation or lighting all affect the estimate. A budget range helps focus the proposal on your highest priorities.

How soon can work begin?

Timing depends on the agreed scope, material availability, weather and the current schedule. Tell us about any target date when you inquire, and confirm the planned timing before authorizing the work.

What if I have HOA requirements?

Share the requirements and approval process early. Confirm any approvals needed for your property before installation is scheduled. Do not assume that an estimate by itself satisfies your HOA requirements.

What should I do before installation day?

Confirm access arrangements and identify the areas included in the work. Discuss gates, pets, parking and any items that need to be moved. Let us know about private lines or existing systems that may affect the project.

How do I care for new plants or sod?

Ask for establishment-care guidance for the materials installed and your property conditions. Watering and follow-up care matter after installation; the right routine depends on the landscape, weather and applicable local watering rules.

Is ongoing maintenance included in an installation?

Only if it is included in the agreed scope. Routine care, plant replacements, larger cleanups and irrigation work should be discussed separately. RLC can also discuss ongoing landscape maintenance and commercial property care.
