Sod Installation

A fresh lawn. The right starting point.

Whether your yard is already cleared or needs a full reset, RLC can build the sod installation around its actual condition. We discuss the grass selection, preparation and watering plan before installation.

Two ways to start

• Installation on clean dirtFor exposed soil that is ready for grass, with light hand grading to smooth minor unevenness before laying sod. Existing vegetation, buried debris, major low spots and drainage corrections require additional preparation.

• Tear-out and re-installationFor worn or unwanted existing lawn. The estimate defines grass removal, disposal, surface preparation and installation of the selected sod.

Optional preparation and improvements

• Added soilImported soil or suitable soil improvements where the site calls for them. Material, depth, volume and placement are scoped for your yard.

• Machine gradingEquipment-assisted preparation for larger uneven areas or more substantial grade work, subject to access and site conditions. This is separate from light hand grading.

• Irrigation adjustmentsReview coverage and discuss repairs or changes needed to support the new lawn. Irrigation work is included only when specified.

• Additional removal and site workExtra debris removal, difficult access and other preparation needs are discussed before work begins. Drainage concerns require their own assessment.

From estimate to establishment

1. Review the yardTell us the area, current condition, sunlight and any spots that stay wet. We review access and the work needed.

2. Agree on the scopeSelect the sod and confirm preparation, removal and optional improvements. The estimate makes the inclusions clear.

3. Prepare and installComplete the agreed preparation, lay the sod and fit the edges to walks, beds and adjoining lawn.

4. Plan ongoing careReview establishment watering and care expectations. Fresh sod needs attention while it roots into the soil.

Sod installation questions

Can you lay sod on dirt I have already cleared?

Yes. We can install on suitable clean dirt after light hand grading. We first check for remaining vegetation, debris, uneven areas and other conditions that may require additional work.

Does basic installation include machine grading or added soil?

No. Light hand grading addresses minor surface unevenness. Machine grading, imported soil and larger corrections are separately scoped add-ons when needed.

Can you remove my old lawn and replace it?

Yes. RLC offers tear-out and re-installation. Your estimate will describe the removal, disposal and preparation included.

Do you install St. Augustine sod?

St. Augustine options can be considered for suitable Tampa-area properties. We discuss variety availability, sunlight, irrigation and site conditions before selecting the grass.

Will new sod fix shade or standing water?

New grass alone does not correct inadequate light, poor drainage or irrigation problems. We discuss these conditions before installing so the project addresses more than the appearance of the old lawn.

Can you replace just part of the yard?

Yes. We can quote selected areas and consider how the new sod connects to existing grass, beds and walkways.

What affects the price?

Area, sod selection, removal, access, soil needs, grading and irrigation work all affect the estimate. Ready-ground installation and full lawn replacement have different preparation requirements.
