Landscape Borders in Lutz & Tampa
A clean border keeps mulch and rock in the bed and gives the mower a clear line to follow. RLC Lawn & Landscape installs concrete curbing, aluminum edging and dig-in heavy-duty plastic edging in Lutz and Tampa Bay.
A continuous concrete border formed in place along your bed line. The most permanent of our three options, suited to long runs, sweeping curves and beds you do not plan to move.
Concrete Curbing
A slim black aluminum edge for a crisp, quiet line. It handles straight runs and planned curves and works well between lawn, mulch and decorative rock.
Aluminum Borders
Thick, commercial-grade plastic edging set into a dug trench and staked. A practical, flexible border with most of the profile below grade. We do not install thin no-dig edging.
Heavy-Duty Plastic Borders
Borders that hold the line.
A landscape border does two jobs. It keeps mulch or rock in the bed, and it gives the mower and trimmer a clean line to follow. RLC installs three types of border in Lutz and Tampa Bay, and we help you choose based on the bed shape, the material it has to hold and how permanent you want the edge to be.
Three border options
Concrete curbingA continuous concrete border formed in place along your bed line. It is the most permanent option and suits long runs, sweeping curves and beds you do not plan to move. Style, color and finish options are confirmed at your estimate.
Aluminum edgingA slim black aluminum edge for a crisp, quiet line between lawn, mulch and decorative rock. It handles straight layouts and planned curves. See the aluminum edging guide in our showroom.
Heavy-duty plastic edgingA thick, commercial-grade plastic border set into a dug trench and staked, with most of the profile below grade. It is a flexible, economical way to separate lawn from a bed. We do not install thin no-dig edging.
What decides the right border
What the border has to holdDecorative rock and mulch sit at different depths. The border height and the finished levels on each side are planned together so material stays in the bed.
Bed shapeLong, smooth curves and straight runs install cleanly and are easier to mow along than repeated tight bends.
Roots, irrigation and accessSurface roots, sprinkler lines and tight access can change where a border runs and which material fits.
How permanent you want itConcrete curbing is a long-term decision about the bed line. Aluminum and heavy-duty plastic are easier to adjust if the landscape changes later.

Landscape border questions
Which landscape border lasts the longest?
Concrete curbing is the most permanent of the three because it is formed in place as one continuous border. Aluminum edging is a durable metal edge with a much slimmer look. Heavy-duty plastic edging is the most economical option and holds up well when it is trenched in and staked correctly.
Do you install the no-dig plastic edging sold in stores?
No. RLC does not install thin no-dig or pound-in plastic edging. The plastic border we install is a heavy-duty edging set into a dug trench and staked, with most of the profile below the finished grade.
Can a border follow curved beds?
Yes. All three options can follow curves. Concrete curbing and heavy-duty plastic suit sweeping curves, and aluminum handles straight runs and planned curves. Smooth, generous curves are easier to mow along than tight bends.
Will a border stop grass from growing into the bed?
A border gives grass a clear barrier and gives the mower and trimmer a line to follow, which slows grass creeping into the bed. No border stops every runner, so normal edging and bed maintenance still matter.
Can you add a border to beds I already have?
Yes. We can install a border along existing beds. We review the current bed line, any old edging that needs to come out, tree roots and irrigation lines before quoting.
Can a border be part of a larger landscape project?
Yes. Borders are often installed with new planting, mulch or decorative rock so the bed shape, material and edge are planned together.
What affects the price?
Total length, the border material, the number of curves, site access, removal of old edging and obstacles such as roots or irrigation all affect the estimate. Send the approximate length and a few photos for a more useful first conversation.
