Choose the focal points

Start with a few features worth seeing after dark. A palm trunk, a canopy or a textured wall may each need a different approach. Lighting every object equally removes the hierarchy and can make the yard feel flat.

Beam width and position

A narrow beam may suit a tall feature while a wider pattern can cover a broader subject. Distance and aiming change both coverage and brightness. Place fixtures where they are accessible but protected from walking and mowing, and keep the beam out of neighboring windows and approaching eyes.

White light for everyday use

Compare the warmth and output on the actual materials. A pale wall reflects differently from dark foliage. More output is not automatically more elegant; a balanced design leaves some areas darker so the highlighted forms remain distinct.

What a color LED upgrade involves

RGBW or related compatible equipment can offer color alongside a white-light setting. The exact available colors, grouping and controls depend on the chosen product. Existing systems need a compatibility check; some may need replacement lamps, fixtures or controls rather than a simple setting change.

Plan for growth and maintenance

Trees and palms change after installation. Keep foliage clear of the fixture and revisit the aim as the subject grows. Check connections and equipment condition when performance changes. Fixtures should not be buried by later mulch or blocked by new planting.

Describe the result you want

Show RLC the focal features and the view from your windows or patio. Note existing power and lighting equipment. Ask for the everyday warm-white design first, then compare the added equipment and cost for color capability if it fits your goals.
